Provides municipal customers with a high level of technical assistance and service, actively developing and maintaining business relationships to increase profitability of the department.
Develops municipal business through sales calls and personal contacts to increase department balances. Acts as a liaison between the bank and municipal customer, resolving problems and providing service in an efficient, timely, and profitable manner. Cross sells bank services to existing municipal customers. Would be required to call on cities and towns within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Identifies needs of municipal customers, recommending and assisting in the development of specialized services required and/or requested by municipalities. Coordinates work flow within department and between other bank departments to ensure smooth bank customer relationships.
Assists with preparation of budget and departmental goals and works within approved budget
Oversees account relationships by ensuring that municipal customers maintain balances, handle overdrafts in an expeditious manner, identify problems and working with other bank departments to resolve those problems, and reviewing monthly statements with assigned municipal customers.
Attend MCTA meetings, conferences and annual school.
Keeps abreast of legislation governing the municipal field and ensures compliance with both bank policies and governmental guidelines. Interprets and implements new state and federal laws pertaining to municipal finance.
Manages entertainment expenses in compliance with Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 268A, which governs limit's per municipal customers for entertainment/gifts.
Ensures required bank documentation is completed by customer on a timely basis.
Responds to "RFP" (Request for Proposal) issued by potential customers by assisting municipal clerical staff with preparation of presentation response.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 5 years recent related banking experience including cash management, municipal calling and supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must have excellent interpersonal, written communication and verbal communication skills. Must be able to effectively supervise others and make decisions. Must possess valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites.
