VP Commercial Lending Officer to examine, evaluate, and authorize approval of customer applications for commercial real estate loans. This position reports directly to the SVP of Commercial Lending.
This candidate should have extensive experience with Commercial Real Estate lending within the local market with knowledge of both the key players in real estate development and a thorough knowledge of real estate lending products and underwriting standards.
Serve existing accounts, review quarterly, semi-annual and annual findings for compliance and credit determination. Maintain and confirm credit worthiness of customers. Gather, review and track appropriate documentation from applicants. Participate in the underwriting of loan requests for new and existing customers. Due diligence would include verifying financial information provided, analyzing financial statements, conducting credit checks and assuring loan meets all policy and regulatory requirements. Promote and cross-sell other bank products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Development-50%
a) Maintain an active calling program directed at Real Estate Developers, Brokers and Correspondents
b) Establish and meet or exceed production goals for new loan outstandings, commercial deposit accounts and other bank products
c) Maintain a strong and visible market presence in order to promote the bank and the department
d) Maintain positive relationship with customers by periodic visiting with them in order to anticipate future needs
e) Loan production directed at Commercial Real Estate Mortgages, Construction Loans and Participations with other financial institutions
2) Portfolio Maintance-20%
a) Service existing accounts by preforming quarterly, semi-annual and annual reviews for compliance and credit worthiness
b) Gather, review and track appropriate financial information to monitor portfolio performance
c) Bring forward issues or concerns to SVP of Commercial Lending Division
d) Responsible for portfolio management including maintaining and confirming portfolio creditworthiness
a) Participate in the underwriting of loan requests to new and existing customers
b) Verifying financial information and analyzing financial statements
c) Conduct credit checks and gather market information
d) Insure all loans are in compliance with internal policy and meet regulatory requirements
4) Represent the bank in the marketplace-10%
a) Participate in various events sponsored by business associations
5) Cross sell bank products and services-10%
a) Become familiar with all bank products and services.
b) Promote the cross selling of other products and services of the other Divisions of the bank i.e. Retail, Residential Mortgage, Consumer and Operations.
Education & Qualifications Include:
The qualified candidate will have at least 10 years of direct underwriting and portfolio management experience. Knowledge of SBA and other similar government guarantee programs preferred. A Bachelor’s degree from a four year College or University is preferred.
Previous Commercial Real Estate Lending Experience is a Plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
