  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Operations, direct the servicing aspects of the Commercial and Small Business Banking from loan origination through liquidation.  Responsible for the efficient operation of the Commercial Servicing department's activities.

     

    Responsibilities

    Manage and direct the activities of the Commercial Servicing area ensuring systems and procedures are effective and are meeting required internal and external guidelines.

     

    Assist managing all active construction projects related to disbursements, project review, and insuring the interests of the bank are maintained.

     

    Oversee product development and training on core system.  Coordinate requirements related to computer and financial systems, assure compliance to bank policy and within state and federal regulations.

     

    Oversee investor and government lending assuring requirements are met on a timely basis.  Assure that staff is trained relative to origination, underwriting, servicing, and system aspects.

     

    Responsible to oversee the scanning and QC of all commercial loans.

     

    Oversee computer and financial systems.  Assure that systems are functioning effectively.  Participate on bank's Technology Steering Committee.  Maintain knowledge of PC's and applicable software.

     

    Oversee the ordering of appraisal and environmental reports according to bank policy and review for compliance.

     

    Oversee the archiving of paid in full loans including the preparation of mortgage discharges and UCC terminations for accuracy and adherence to state and federal regulations.

     

    Review withdrawn and declined files to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. 

     

    Responsible for compliance and quality control.  Assure that loans are closed in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Participate on the compliance committee for the organization.

     

    Maintain a complete knowledge of Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Regulation Z, Truth in Lending, and all other applicable state and/or federal laws.

     

    Maintain a thorough working knowledge of SBA rules and regulations as they pertain to the maintenance of the bank’s PLP status.

     

    Maintain and reconcile all participation loans.

     

    Participate with division heads to oversee all aspects of the Commercial Lending and Business Banking servicing (servicing, compliance, and quality control).

     

    Involvement in the development of all department written policies and procedures.

     

    Implement policies and objectives of Senior Management and Commercial Lending SVP.

     

    Hire and maintain knowledgeable staff to ensure adherence to department objectives. Prepare performance appraisals for staff.

     

    Join outside committees with lenders, trade groups and vendors to further the goals of the bank.

     

    COMPLIANCE: Maintain an excellent understanding of applicable regulations and laws including but not limited to; Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; and Fair Lending. Maintain an up to date understanding of bank policies and procedures as they relate to compliance.  

     

    Complete appropriate compliance training and ensure staff complete all relevant compliance training and have an understanding of procedures related to their position.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise the areas of the Commercial Servicing Department in multiple locations.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and at least 5 years’ recent experience managing a Commercial Loan Servicing department within a Financial Institution. The ability to effectively lead a team and manage a growing loan-servicing portfolio; proven ability to effectively partner with the originators, credit administration and other business partners.  Proven proficiency in commercial servicing operations systems and CORE systems, experience with Insight / COCC is a plus.

     

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
