Reporting to the SVP/CERO, oversees and is responsible for the overall Compliance Management Program. This position provides support to all divisions of the bank to insure compliance with federal and state consumer protection regulatory requirements.
Implement and refine Compliance Program to be effective and compliant; communicate strategies and goals to SVP/CERO for consideration.
Review and evaluate policies and procedures as they relate to compliance, making recommendations and/or implementing changes as needed to follow regulations.
Act as the organization's Compliance Officer, ensuring the bank's compliance in all applicable banking laws and regulations. Maintain a library of compliance resources, reviewing current and proposed laws and regulations that impact the bank's compliance requirements. Chair working groups to implement regulatory changes in a timely manner.
Ensure that all regulatory and audit recommendations related to compliance are appropriately identified, monitored, implemented, and reported on to the Risk Management Committee.
Provide interpretations of new and existing regulations. Maintain a thorough knowledge of federal and state consumer product laws as well as regulatory issues.
Support all Business Units and ensure appropriate internal monitoring is in place.
Review and approve new products and/or services prior to launch.
Review marketing and advertising materials for compliance with banking laws.
Coordinate compliance training efforts throughout the bank.
Responsible for the complaint resolution process.
Revise and update the Compliance Policy annually for Board review.
Chair the Compliance committee. Prepare reports for Risk Management Committee and Board of Directors.
Represent the Bank through participation in community and industry activities.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and five years of related experience in a management level compliance position. Extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulations required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, trade journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to respond to examinations questionnaires from regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
