Under the direction of the Accounting Officer responsible for accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations and a variety of operational duties to support the Finance dept. This position requires sound knowledge of accounting principles and the use of independent judgement when procedures may not be well-defined.
Process all payment requests in accordance with the Accounts Payable policy. Maintain accounts payable module; setup new vendors, maintain & update distribution sets. Ensure subsidiary AP modules, such as Identifi and Concur, are maintained and updated as needed. Continuously look for ways to improve the current process to be more accurate, efficient and user-friendly for end-users.
Comply with all regulatory and legal requirements, including the preparation of 1099s and monthly remittance of sales and use taxes. Responsible for keeping up to date on all changes in these rules to ensure the bank’s compliance. Ensure all records, including W9s, are maintained in accordance with policy.
Reconcile general ledger accounts, within the guidelines of the Account Reconciliation policy. Research and resolve any balancing discrepancies, making correcting entries as needed. Interact with a variety of Bank personnel to resolve various balancing issues.
Develop a full understanding of Bank’s financial systems and operations. Maintain an excellent understanding of Oracle Financials, AP subsidiary systems, Digital Archives, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Create and/or verify wire transfers and ACH transactions utilizing WITS and FedLine Advantage and in compliance with all policies, procedures & regulations.
Assist with budget.
Assist with audits of areas under their responsibility.
Provide back up to others in the department in case of vacation, illness, etc.
Perform all duties professionally and within the Bank’s quality service standards ensuring confidentiality of information.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work overtime as needed.
COMPLIANCE: Maintain an excellent understanding of applicable regulations and laws, including but not limited to; Bank Secrecy Act; and Privacy. Maintain an up to date understanding of bank policies and procedures as they relate to compliance.
Complete appropriate compliance training.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration with a minimum of two years recent related work experience.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Excellent understanding of accounting concepts.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use judgment, make sound decisions and work independently.
