Job Description:

The VP, Deposit Operations oversees the daily tasks of the Deposit Operations department.  Is responsible for the development and ongoing support for the following; Checking, Savings and Time Deposit products, ACH; Wire Transfers, CIP, IRAs; and any deposit related service used by HarborOne Bank. Utilizing effective communication skills to motivate the team to ensure daily operations are conducted efficiently and within customer focused standards. Ensures all work is completed in an accurate and timely basis following departmental policies and procedures and in compliance with appropriate state and federal regulations.  

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a major participant on implementation of strategic planning items that support Banking/Marketing/Cash Management/Commercial and the bank initiatives.
  • Creates, implements, monitors initiative’s related to efficiencies within Deposit Operations with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Leads and participates in the development and implementation of new, and improvement of, existing products and services requiring utilization of strong organizational skills and leadership.
  • Participates in the development of short and long-range strategy for the division.
  • Has significant experience and understands the urgency, complexity, and customer support required to serve commercial / business clients.
  • Can creatively problem solve process challenges with complex clients while maintaining a sound control environment. Approaches these challenges collaboratively and with a customer service focus. 
  • Works as an effective partner across the organization and with business partners. Works directly with other departments to ensure flow of work and information is appropriate and issues are resolved; utilizes a thorough understanding of technological, financial industry business issues, and their interrelationships in creating solutions for our staff and customers.
  • Works as liaison with data processor (COCC) for daily processing of all deposit, eforms and IRA functions. Maintains knowledge of all data processor's systems and related services.  Manage/oversee all deposit and electronic banking vendors.  Through the subordinate managers, ensures that staff is knowledgeable and properly trained concerning use of the system.
  • Act as subject matter expert in the daily processing and file transmission for all HarborOne deposit and electronic related vendors including Core (COCC). Develops new ideas for analytics, process improvement and data integrity.  Ensure the operations team meets or exceed metrics set for daily, weekly and monthly timelines, accuracy, productivity and service.
  • Conducts process / procedure reviews while overseeing, guiding, and coaching the deposit operations team and related projects/initiatives. Develop/track goals of the department aligned to the bank’s strategic plan.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of operating policies and procedures and ensures their proper implementation and ongoing compliance. Oversees the documentation of policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that all activities are performed within the guidelines of our quality service standards and develop goals and recognition criteria for the department.
  • Audits: Manages departmental audits. Cures and implements new process for all deficiencies. Ensures that the ACH annual self-assessment is completed. 
  • Ensures that the business continuity plan is up to date and tested.
  • Create and maintain effective relationships across business units with using effective leadership skills. Demonstrate and enforce the core values of the company (trust, respect, accountability, integrity, and teamwork). 

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University or work equivalent experience.
  • 12 plus years of related banking experience or a combination of experience and training with at least 4 years of management experience.
  • Proven proficiency with electronic banking and deposit operations systems and CORE systems, experience with Insight / COCC is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills to support the development and motivation of the team.
  • Ability to independently initiate and lead major projects; align division's capabilities and lead people to perform.
  • Ability to digest complex issues and develop innovative solutions for effective risk mitigation.
  • Ensure a customer focused approach to all areas of responsibilities.
